So far so good. Had a small dinner at Brasilia airport. They sent our luggage to Lima. Surprise because I had checked the labels and I only saw GRU. Whatever. A night without luggage so no brushing our teeth.

It is hard to imagine these days, but between the two neighboring capitals Lima and Brasilia is no road, no railroad and not even a flight. We had to go south to São Paulo, stay a night, and fly another 4 hours to be in Lima.
From our house, Machu Picchu is just 2500km straight west to the Andes, but it is taking us 2 days (Palmas-Brasilia-São Paulo-Lima).

We decided that 12 days would be fine. But that meant we could not do Lima-Cusco by car or bus, which would take 3 days. So another flight had to be scheduled (Lima-Cusco). Back could be done from Arequipa. Eight flights all together. The rest would be by taxi, bus and train.
Then we had to prepare Machu Picchu. Entrance ticket, ticket on the train, and bus. Including Cusco flight it means you will spend > $500 each, to enjoy one of the most beautiful views on our globe. (excluding hotels, restaurants, trip to Peru)
